Happened across a few interesting pieces of ordnance while passing through South Dakota in June, 2013.

USS S Dakota Memorial blog

The USS South Dakota memorial in Great Falls is worth a visit.  Parts and pieces of the mothballed battleship are

on display inside an area equivalent to the physical size of the warship once known as “Battleship X” or “Old

Nameless” because of secrecy issues during WWII.

The lights from a baseball field illuminated the memorial on the evening I visited. I added the rear highlight with a

flashlight.
