Washington

A replica of the original Fort Vancouver stands in Vancouver, WA.

The British Hudson’s  Bay Company  trading post was established in 1824 .

The Crown considered land north of the Columbia River a part of Canada.

The Oregon Treaty of 1846 set the US-Canada border at the 49th parallel,

placing the fort in US territory.

One hundred and two years later it was designated  a National Monument.
